The cost of a new boiler

Boiler technology is always advancing and nowadays you can get smaller and sleeker systems that are also quieter, whilst reducing bills and cutting carbon emissions. That’s a lot to take in. With all these benefits it’s doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out why so many homeowners are upgrading their boiler.

If your boiler is older than ten years or has been playing up recently, you may well want to consider replacing it to ensure you keep your annual expenses down.

So what about the cost? As you would expect the new boiler will be the most expensive part, but then you have the labour and extras such as pipes, valves, filters and power flushing.

The cost of a replacement boiler

There is a variety of ways you could pay for your new boiler, whether it’s with cash you’ve saved up, monthly payments or even a bank loan. What many homeowners are looking at now is buying in the parts themselves and then hiring a professional to fit the replacement boiler. Remember, you always need a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit your boiler.

Typical boiler costs, including VAT can be as follows:

  • Worcester Greenstar boilers: £1,300 – £2,100
  • A Vaillant boilers: £740 – £1,100
  • Baxi boilers: £730 – £830
  • Potterton boilers: £700 – £1,050
  • Glow-worm boilers: £560 – £980
  • Ideal boilers: £680 – £1,200

These prices are only for the boiler. On top of this you can expect costs for labour and any extras.
